What is WIC?

WIC is a supplemental nutrition program for women, infants, and children (WIC).  The program provides free nutritious food and nutrition information to improve the health status of the participant.

WIC is funded and administered nationally by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.  Statewide, the program is operated by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and provided locally by the Texas County Health Department.

Who is invited to participate?

WIC serves women who are pregnant, breastfeeding or have had a baby in the last 6 months and children up to 5 years of age who are at nutritional risk and have met income guidelines.

Requirements for WIC participation are the same for everyone regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or handicap.
