Texas County Health Department will be changing their monthly satellite clinic days in Summersville from Friday to Monday effective in April. Jackie Smith, administrator, stated, “The change is being made to better fit our client needs. We want to continue making public health services more accessible to all residents of the county through the satellite clinics, as long as there is a need demonstrated.”

Community members are encouraged to stop by the health department’s Summersville office for the wide array of “free” services such as blood pressure checks, blood sugar and hemoglobin testing, immunizations, TB skin testing, pregnancy testing, temporary Medicaid for pregnant women, and WIC program services. Persons needing more information can call the Texas County Health Department’s main office in Houston at 417-967-4131.

The monthly health department clinics are provided in the community medical building across from the elementary school. The 2008 clinic dates are as follows: March 14, April 14, May 19, June 16, July 14, August 18, September 15, October 20, November 17, and December 15.
