Rabies
Rabies is a disease that is always fatal so prevention is very important. All reported animal bites are investigated to assure all involved understand what needs to be done. Information gathered is provided to private physician for assistance in making medical decisions. Animal heads can be brought in for testing at the State Laboratory if an exposure has occurred. The Texas County Health Department works with county veterinarians to promote rabies vaccinations to pets.
